I am a high school math teacher in the great state of Oregon. I currently teach Geometry only, but I have taught everything from 6th grade math to AP Calculus BC, as well as middle school science for many years and a few other things. I started my “regular” career teaching math and science for ten years in a small town north of San Francisco. In 2004 my family moved to Costa Rica, where I taught various levels of math, including IB Math Studies. That was the best job I will ever have, and I appreciated it at the time. There are great things about all of the other places I’ve worked, but nowhere else am I likely to find the same mixture of small class sizes, high prep-time-to-teaching-time ratio, motivated students, natural lighting, and mostly-lovely-but-occasionally-crazy weather. Two years later we returned to the States, relocating to Oregon where I chose to get licensed in Mathematics only, and I have been plying my trade here ever since.
It goes without saying that I have a severe case of blogorrhea.
(It might not go without saying that this is a play on “logorrhea“, not “diarrhea”. I’m trying to keep this a family-friendly blog.)
